Lamps of the Holy House
Rows of small votive lamps stand on shelves
on both the inside and outside walls of the Holy House. Each lamp
bears a shield asking for the prayers of Our Lady and pilgrims for a
particular intention. There is currently a waiting list (4 - 6
months) for these lamps. Minimum annual donation - £40.
Hanging Lamps within the Holy House
The 15 hanging lamps within the
Holy House each bear an intercession. A plaque on the outside wall
of the Holy House bears the dedications. Minimum annual
donation - £250.
Lamps of the Chapels and Shrines
The majority of the side chapels
within the Shrine Church contain hanging lamps. Small votive lamps
burn by individual shrines (images.) There are also hanging lamps on
the nave pillars above the two ikons. These lamps all bear an
intercession. Dedications for these lamps and candles are displayed
on a plaque on the outside wall of the Holy House. Minimum annual
donation - from £150 - £200 depending on location and daily/weekly
change.
Lamps within the Sepulchre
Two candles burn perpetually within the
Sepulchre in the Shrine gardens. A nearby plaque bears the
dedications. Minimum annual donation - £75.
Lamps within the Barn
There are two perpetual candles in the Barn -
a restored stone barn close to the refectory, now used as a space
for quiet, meditation and services such as Night Prayer. One candle
burns by the great ikon and the other by an image of Our Lady of
Walsingham. A nearby plaque bears the dedications. Minimum annual
donation - £100.
